Haddon Lake House
The good soil is clearly a vital ingredient in the success of this garden but so, too, is the automatic watering system which uses recycled rainwater from the roof of the house. It is collected in a large holding tank and then pumped to where it is needed. The irrigation comes on twice daily – once at 1 am then again at 6 am. This frees the Lamberts from the time-consuming task of watering and Phillippa has calculated that both financially and environmentally they are better off.

H2O WaterTech have recently completed the first installation of a new rainwater harvesting and filtration system for Homebase at Milton Keynes. The harvested water is stored in a tank and used to run the store's irrigation system. Initial feedback from Homebase has been very positive and the system has the potential to be installed in other stores across the group with huge water savings being possible nationally.

Haddon Lake House
Phillippa Lambert's marvellous garden at Haddon Lake House has been nominated as an entrant for the Channel 5 programme "'I Own Britain's Best Garden" to be broadcast later this Autumn. All the irrigation in this amazing garden was designed and installed by our H2O Irrigation company.
We will be watching out eagerly for the program and will let you know how they get on.

As part of a major re-generation of Palm Oil Production in the Democratic Republic of Congo in Central Africa, Wright Rain are delighted to have been awarded the contract to design and supply a Nursery Irrigation System for the first stage of a 30,000ha main project development. The whole project will take up to 20 years to complete.
Wright Rain has designed the system in conjunction with the client to apply a water application of 10mm every day over the entire nursery area by hand move impact sprinkler on 1.5metre risers.
2.5ha is irrigated by 84 sprinklers in 1.6hours and 5 settings are obtained in the 8 hour working day. A second set of sprinklers is being moved into position whilst the other set is irrigating. This nursery will be doubled in size next year.
The system is powered by a Wright Rain 156hp Perkins turbocharged diesel engined pump, with a second unit on stand-by and carrying out irrigation trials on the main production areas.
To make the system design more of a challenge, the river is over 80 metres below the nursery area. Therefore, high pressure steel piping is used for the feed to the nursery.
Twin 3” aluminium lateral mains are left in position throughout the nursery and 50mm PE sprinkler laterals feed the sprinklers on tripods with quick-bayonet couplers.
The photographs show the equipment being loaded into 40ft containers at the Wright Rain Depot in Southampton on their first leg of a three month journey to Kinshasa and then several weeks by ferry up the Congo River then the Kasai tributary.
Wright Rain are respected for their expertise in design of specialist irrigation projects throughout the World and are currently working closely with clients in Cameroon, Liberia, Nigeria and the Middle East

Wright Rain is pleased to have been awarded a contract for the Cameroon, West Africa, for the supply of diesel engined pump units.
The units have been designed for the specific irrigation application on wheeled chasis with integral diesel fuel tanks and automatic, exhaust priming for ease of operation.
Four of the units are shown being loaded into a 20ft container in the Wrights Rain yard in Southampton on the first leg of their journey to Douala.
Another Wright Rain client active in Cameroon, is carrying out extensive developments of their Oil Palm plantations and has awarded the design and supply contract to Wright Rain for delivery during September.
Further activity is expected in the region over the next few months.

The Judges and the BBC at the "Ocean to Garden" garden at Chelsea
It's been a very busy few days at Chelsea.

First Images of Finished Chelsea Garden
Here are first images of the Simply Italian "Ocean to Garden" garden at this years Chelsea Flower Show

Despite the pain she suffered after completing the London Marathon previously, Cathy, our Group PA, has entered for the Great North Run next October. Once again she will be running in aid of the National Kidney Research Fund, for whom she has previously raised thousands of pounds.

The garden represents an exploration of the relationship between a lost ocean and the evolution of the Italian landscape. The geological history of the country has been a violent one. Over the centuries, ocean floor plate tectonic activity and volcanic eruptions have both conjured new land into existence and fl ooded inhabited landscapes.
We are proud to be involved in TESTI FRATELLI’s garden, as it highlights the issues close to our business philosophy. We consider this design to be very important in driving the gardens at Chelsea to another level. This has allowed us to design a state of the art water system using 100% recycled water and an LED solution to the lighting system, highlighting the two main elements of the garden: Water and Light.

Simply Italian comment on H2O at Chelsea
![]()

We are very pleased to have been able to rely on the services of H2O for our garden, which is very challenging, not least because of the complex water features. The advice offered by H2O has proved invaluable in the design and construction of the garden. We have also relied on H2O for their advice on the best ways of lighting the garden, to create a dramatic space at night. H2O have exceeded our expectations with their professionalism and expertise.

Another successful year for H2O at Chelsea. It was nice to see so many of our existing clients at the show and to have the opportunity to talk with prospective customers and share with them some new and amazing ideas for both irrigation and lighting projects. We look forward to working with them on these projects in the near future.
One project that we can now reveal is the Chelsea award winning Gorilla Enclosure. H2O will be designing and installing the complete irrigation system for this prestigious development at London Zoo. We will keep you up to date with this exciting project. Watch this space...

Beat the Hose pipe ban and reduce house hold water consumption by up to 60%
Mandatory fitting of water meters in South East
Did you realise that an automatic irrigation system designed and fitted by an approved Irrigation company could save you 20%-60% of your water consumption for watering your garden? H2O are committed to the water ecology and conservation code providing only 100% water management irrigation systems which are sensitive to the environment and will save you money!
H2O will design supply and fit an irrigation system that will minimise the amount of water you use, watering only when and where you need it and using low evaporation methods and all available natural water such as Rain, spring and ground waste water.

Here are some of our projects that have made the news recently:
Komodo Dragon Enclosure at London Zoo
H2O were approached by the horticultural specialist at London Zoo who was looking for a specialised irrigation system and climate control for the new Komodo Dragon Enclosure. After a very muddy on-site visit one of our designers Steve designed a system that could fully control the environment for the enclosure, so that if the temperature in the enclosure became too warm the sprinkler system would be activated. The enclosure was completed in July 2004 and the Komodo Dragons were flown in.
St Georges Wharf
H2O were recommended for this large project. The project specification was to design an irrigation system for the planters around the new large housing complex in Vauxhall, opposite the MI6 building. The system was designed so that the plants were kept in perfect condition with minimal effort from the maintenance staff.
Cathy runs for Charity
Our PA Cathy successfully ran the London Marathon in April 2005. With help of H2O she raised £4,015 for the National Kidney Research Fund. (Dec 2005)
“Although I am still recovering from April I am determined to run again next year and raise even more. I am also waiting to hear if I have a place in the New York Marathon next year”.
Alex’s Project
In Autumn 2004 H2O received a letter from a family asking if we could help their son Alex. Alex has Xeroderma Pigmentosum (XP) a life-threatening condition that makes him hyper-sensitive to Ultra-violet light and prevents him from going outside in daylight.
A local designer Katherine Hibberd had designed a special garden for Alex and his family. H2O were happy to design the Lighting and Irrigation system for this special garden. In their thank you letter to H2O Alex’s family wrote:
”We cannot thank you enough for what you have done…. This is the first time that Alex has had an outdoor party since he was one. Without you this could not have happened.”
